FYI, any products damaged as a result of accidental or negligent use fall outside the warranty and we'll be happy to provide a solution at our shop rate. |
Diagnostics Fees

Final charges are either for repairs completed OR for diagnostics (where no repair is done) not both. You're final charge will be either for the repair only, OR for the Diagnostics charge only. more info. |
Diagnostics Fees are due in advance (collected at our discretion either before or after the diagnostics efforts) and are refunded (or waived) if the repairs are completed with us. |
Smartphones, PDAs and iPods
|
Repairs of most readily identifiable problems are typically completed in 1 hour. Often we are able to deliver even more quickly. However, actual repair times will vary depending on service volume flows. |
Secondary Problems Sometimes, after repairing the obvious and identified first problem, another problem, not apparent because of the first, surfaces. For example, after replacing a screen you might find that the keyboard or the WiFi signal does not respond. This was not obvious since nothing could be viewed on the screen. This is often the result of a device having sustained a knock, hit or drop. In such "secondary problem" situations we will give you a repair estimate for the second problem at that time. If the total repair charges for the two problems exceed your budget, we would be happy remove our original part (i.e. undoing our first repair), reassemble the device and return it to you. Diagnostics fees will apply, compensating us for our efforts. |
Mainboard as Secondary Problem Another "secondary problem" might involve a damaged mainboard for example, after repairing the charging port, we discover that the main board has also sustained a failure due to being dropped or knocked, etc. When this is discovered, we simply re-assemble the device and return it. Diagnostics fees will apply. Where installed parts cannot be removed the entire approved repair cost will apply (i.e. A usb port is replaced on a Blackberry - discovering, upon charging and powering on the device the mainboard has failed (rare but good example). In this case the USB port cannot be removed and reused and the labour time has been expended. |
Troubleshooting There are times when the problem is ambiguous and not readily identifiable. Under these circumstances we would perform a diagnostics which might take from 30 minutes to 3 days (we will advise you accordingly before accepting the device for repair). Upon completion of diagnostics, we will call you with our time and cost estimates, we will only proceed with the repairs upon obtaining your go ahead. If the estimates are unacceptable, we will reassemble the device and return it to you. Diagnostics fees will apply, compensating us for our efforts. |
We provide an estimate over the phone, email, or in person, when the problem to be repaired is identified by you. If brought into the store without prior communication, in some cases we can provide an estimate after eye-balling the device for a minute or so. For example, the screen on the iPhone is cracked or the charging port on a Blackberry 8800 is broken, etc. Most repairs can be completed within an hour. Where the cause of the symptom(s) is not immediately determinable, diagnostics times will vary, typically a few hours or overnight. |
PC and Laptop Computers
|
The process is the same as for the Smartphones, except the diagnostics typically takes up to a day before we call you with a repair estimate. Upon acceptance of our estimates the repairs are typically completed that day or the next. If the estimates are not accepted, we charge a diagnostics fee for our efforts and time, before returning your laptop/desktop. Typical turnaround time for diagnostics and follow up repairs is less than 8 hours. |
Secondary Problems A typical "secondary problem" for computers would be a broken power jack is replaced, and a mainboard failure is subsequently discovered (we do not repair mainboards – see below). Where after having completed a repair, we discover a secondary problem which renders the device completely inoperable, we would remove any parts installed to undo the repairs completed (where possible), re-assemble the computer and charge the standard labour cost of the repair for time expended. Where installed parts cannot be removed the entire approved repair cost will apply this rare but can happen. |
Mainboard Damage
|
IMPORTANT We do not repair mainboards or motherboards. If you would like to provide us with one, we would be happy to replace your damaged mainboard/motherboard and charge you for our labour. |
Mainboards are typically damaged because of exposure to some form of liquid. Often, a drop or a knock or power surges can and will damage mainboards. Most of the time there is no feasible way to identify the cause of the damage. When this is the case, we simply re-assemble the device and charge a diagnostics fee compensating us for our efforts. |
Where mainboard problems are discovered as a "secondary problem" (i.e. upon completion of the first repair,) the approved cost of the repair will still apply (less any feasibly removable parts we have installed, the entire labour cost applies). |
For liquid damaged devices, we do undertake cleaning of the mainboard upon customer request. If the mainboard can be reliably cleaned and we think the device can potentially be saved, we proceed to provide an estimate for repair. No warranties are offered for repairs on a liquid damaged device. |
Warranty Information

We charge only after repairs have been completed. We require customers to test their repaired products before paying for the services to ensure that all expected and agreed issues have been addressed. Our job is not finished until you are happy with the outcome. |
Any follow-up repairs will be diagnosed and assessed by our technicians. If our diagnostics indicate that the problems are a result of errors of commission or omission on the part of the customer, or do not directly relate to our already completed repairs, we will provide you with a repair estimate. |
Our diagnostics and estimates will be final and non-negotiable. |
Data Responsibility

IMPORTANT Although we take every effort to safeguard customer data, we will not be liable for data loss under any circumstances, including circumstances arising in association with or as a result of our actions during handling, repair procedure or otherwise. |
It is strongly recommended that you backup all of your important data before bringing products in for servicing. |
Devices Pick-up
|
All devices must be picked up within 30 days after we have called to notify you that the repair has been completed. We will follow up our phone call request with an email after 30 days. |

Liquid Damage

This is directed to helping our customers understand the issue of liquid damage to devices and assist in managing their expectations. | |||
All digital devices, phones, laptops, cameras, etc are liquid-phobic. Depending on the extent of the liquid exposure, these devices are often beyond repairing. | |||
Devices commonly go through a washing cycle, get dropped in swimming pools, toilet bowls or bath tubs and get quenched with water, milk, juice, coffee, beer, suntan lotions, etc. | |||
The one thing you should not do is turn it on, while the one thing that you should do is to bring/send the device in to us, ASAP. | |||
Analysis Process

Initially, all devices typically seem to work with one or two functions impaired or lost. Most customers call us asking us to repair that failed function(s), since the device seems to otherwise work. We have to then spend time explaining to them that liquid damaged devices exhibit a behavior that can be described as a "cascading" failure, it begins with a failure of one function and over time other functions start to fail. Managing expectations is a key component of any relationship, which is the goal of this communication. Rather than driving all the way to our shop, we hope you will use this page to ascertain the risks and proceed accordingly. | |||
Customers Who Are Aware of Liquid Damage Upon completion of cleaning, if we conclude that the moisture has been sufficiently cleaned from your mainboard for your device to have a reasonable chance for survival, we will call you with our estimate for the actual repairs. If approved, we will proceed with the repairs. The total charge to you will be the up-front charge for cleaning plus the cost of repairs approved by you. If the device is not repairable or not cost effective to repair we will return the device to you with no further charge. |

Customers Unaware of Liquid Damage If we discover during the course of diagnosis or repair that the device has experienced liquid damage, we will stop the diagnostics and call to advise you about the additional cleaning charge. If you approve, we proceed with the cleaning. Upon completion of cleaning, if we conclude that the moisture has been sufficiently cleaned from your mainboard for your device to have a reasonable chance for survival, we will call you with our estimate for the actual repairs. If approved, we will proceed with the repairs. The total charge to you will be the cleaning charge plus the cost of repairs approved by you. If the moisture has not been adequately removed, we re-assemble the device and call to advise you to pick up your device. The cleaning fee will be payable at pick up. |
